we all know about sitting in the drivers seat at a truckstop doing a log, the truck next to you starts to pull out, and you suddenly jamb the heck out off the brakes cuz you think you are rolling backwards. lol got that t-shirt to.
OK experienced drivers, post your most recent rookie mistake!

lets see if i can keep this clean. just left Barstow, CA. on 40 east running with a buddy running front door at about the 7 yardstick he calls back to me and asks if i got paper towels. i said yep, he says pull in the rest area up ahead. well w all know about the bottles. he was using one while driving (not a good idea) hit a bump, dropped it and watered his dash, floor among other things. he dont try that anymore, cuz that was 7 yrs ago and i still haven't let him live it down. lets face it funny is funny.

Dropped a trailer, took the tractor home for the weekend. Came back, hooked up to the trailer, did my pre-trip and paperwork. Pulled out of the parking spot, discovered the trailer brakes didn't release. Figured they were frozen (wouldn't be the first time this year). Hammered on them for a good half hour before I finally gave up and called the company for a breakdown. Dragged the trailer down the parking lot to the shop (we park at a dealership) across the ice and packed snow. Two hours later, shop informs me the trailer is fixed and ready to go.
The problem? Some idiot truck driver switched the air lines at hook-up! D'OH!!!!Dinomite Thanks this. -
Just last week, the boss calls me, tells the trailer number I'm taking to Grand Rapids, MI for a 07:00 a.m delivery the next day.... OK, next morning at 03:30 a.m. I get to the yard hook up to that trailer, do my pre-trip, my log, get rolling because I know I'm going to have some crappy roads to drive as we just had a storm roll through the day before... I stop at the Pilot at exit 5 on US 23 in Ottawa Lake, MI to weigh the trailer because this customer always orders enough product to have us right at or slightly above gross. I'm right at 79,000 lbs but 36,580 on my drives, not a stretch of dry enough driveway to slide the tandems anywhere so I roll the slow way up 223 to 94 to 131 for Grand Rapids avoiding Fowlerville and Ionia.... I'm about 10 miles onto I-94 when I think to myself, I haven't heard from my wife yet, she calls when she gets up.. I look for my phone usually in the cup holder and it's not there, hmm... Crap, I left it in my coat pocket where I put it when I went in the Pilot to get my scale ticket. I fish my phone and there are messages from my wife, a driver who never calls me (we don't really get along) and my boss. I call the boss right away as I see he called nearly a half hour prior. He asks me what trailer I have. I tell him the number, the one he told to take the day before... He says check your paperwork, that's not the right trailer going to Grand Rapids..... CRAP! I never checked the paperwork and grabbed a trailer heading to Pittsburgh, PA! That's what I get for being in a hurry! I had to turn around, go back to the yard, drop that one and go get the back haul in Holiday City, OH I was suppose to get after dropping in Grand Rapids, deliver that and then do some odds and ends stuff locally. At least the boss wasn't too mad, the other driver on the other hand wasn't pleased with getting his miles cut some and I don't blame him, but stuff happens I guess. I been at this for a few years and I've never done that before. It just goes to show why we should NEVER get in too big of a hurry!

Did this one yesterday:
I crossed the air lines and it took me 30 mins to figure out why the trailer wasn't moving.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
I just came back to work over here and got a T700. So I put my keys on this Eagles keychain thingamajig I bought. It hangs around your neck. Well I stepped off the clutch and on to this thing and heard a snap. I thought it was the keychain. Nope. The key in the ignition!!!! I was 1 mile from my delivery and I had to keep the truck running because I didn't think I could get it started again. Finally hit the KW dealer for a new key. Lol

I had to use a screwdriver to start it, touching the remains of the key. Got it over to KW and had to call the shop to get the key code. I felt like an idiot!!!!
