With $180,000+ in equipment alone and zero experience, your losses will be big and fast.

If you want to hire me @ $120,000 per year I think I can get you up to speed in 2 years or less. prepare to have your ### chewed on a daily if not hourly basis though. Hey, if you got the money and a short learning curve it's way better than going to work for Schneider for 5 years, moving up to a better, smaller carrier for 5 years and then thinking about it.

But really, I mean I like the idea of lots of things. I like the idea of being a fishing tour guide, I like the idea of flying crop dusters, and I like the idea of racing cars but I don't have a clue how to do any of these things and yes for the right money I could probably get someone to show me but what happens if 2 months in I decide the idea of it and what it actually entails is two different things and I want to do something else ?

Mt. Everest? That is probably a good analogy. So you've never so much as climbed a mile-high mountain, and you have some money for lots of gear, some titanium crampons, 1200 dollar boots, you spend fifty grand on a guide, you make it up to 15,000 feet, get cerebral edema, throw up, need a helicopter down off the mountain, nearly die... I would do that BEFORE I bought a big truck, LOL... maybe that could be Jon Krakauers' (Into Thin Air) next book.

    GOOD LUCK dude

You can do what ever you want to do.The best way would be to work for a company for 6 months(NOT 2YEARS)all working for a company shows you is how to be a company driver. They dont teach you about freight all you do is haul it.Work 6 months then buy ur truck lease on with a company that pays a precentage only not by the mile. Then you will learn what freight pays and what doesnt.Do that a few months then get ur own authority and cross your fingers and keep ur cost down you will be alright this is not rocket science. Its not easy but its not as hard as people make it seem.I personally know someone who did it and wasnt even driving he had someone driving for him and he made it.That person now has 6 trucks dont let people discourage you it can be done without being a slave for a company for years.Remember companies put drivers in trucks with no experience everyday. The only problem is insurance thats why you need the 6 months you will not get insurance with out 6 months and the first 6 months you might have to only go 500-600 miles out. They have restrictions on how far you can go with little experience you can still make money it will just be like running a regional route.Alot of drivers just do regional and still make real good money. You can do it but you have to get atleast 6months behind the wheel dont get stuck and have regrets believe me theres alot of company drivers that have been thinking about it for 20 years but never pulled the trigger.
