Are you going out with a trainer? Took me about a month n a half to get a truck but our trailers/products are kinda different to learn.

I have 5 years experience so hopefully I don't need too much training.

Day 3
Lots more computer stuff, all went quickly. SUBWAY for lunch again. Sat a lot waiting for nothing to happen. Sitting here on day 4 waiting for truck assignment. -
Well I got assigned my truck, brand new T680. Since I'm on the heavy haul fleet I have a small cab, the bunk is directly behind the seats, no rear cabinets at all. I'm using the upper bunk for storage. No APU either. Sat with a guy to go over axle weights. Wow. Having a hard time wrapping my head around this stuff. Who knew adding 3 axles would complicate things so much. Gonna take some brain work to figure this out. And a 75' tape measure. Got my first load Picking up Monday.

On the road again. Dropped my first load in Portland this morning and have a pickup in a bit headed back up into Washington. This truck is very small, hard to do things like put my shoes and socks on. Took a while and help from a couple of other drivers to get my 5th wheel to the right place and figure out how to drop the extra axles. I like doing short runs so far. We will see if the money end works out.

I think most of your trailers will be good for 43,000-44,000 on the trandem and 50-52,000 on the quad and should be 43,000 on the drives/lift with 9,000 on the lift. 12-13,000 on the steers with the lift down and 14,600 with it up but check tire rating.

These will help. You should also have Oregon weight table maps in your permit book.

Edit: When using the Oregon calculator be sure to check DIVISABLE on there as we dont haul single piece loads.Last edited: Oct 3, 2017

Just remember to always lift the trailer lift before backing especially the steerable ones.

Nice thing about all the axles is Ive gotten good at hiding weight.
Dr Fozz Thanks this. -
I've got 60k in the box now and got a green light at the only open scale I passed today.
