I know, and many of our new accounts that we gained from the fallout from the Central Transport/Vitran merger told us that even though it was cheaper to go with them, they liked our service better (less damage, more on-time performance, etc.).
I love this job. I hope that people don't think that I'm merely a "cheerleader" for OD, because I have my bad days and my beefs with this company too, but this truly is the best job I've had. I hope to retire here too.

So what's it like running team over the road at Old Dominion? Is it strictly terminal to terminal or do you actually visit customers?
cellopudding Thanks this. -

No problem. the city guys seem to love what they do. Chicago, I've learned, is one of those things that you just have to get used to. I used to be terrified about going to our Chicago terminal, which is located at Central and 47th, right off the Stevenson. Now that I've done it a few times, it ain't nothin'! -

Also I'm ready to get out of illinois so I can not worry about transferring my cdl with their numnuts retesting requirements lol. Luckily I have a house in ohio so I'm maintaining my Ohio cdl for the moment until I know what/where I am going to be for sure.

Have you thought of Columbus? They need drivers.

Heh, sorry, DtB, didn't see you there! Team OTR at OD is strictly terminal to terminal. Same with solo OTR (running wild). The city guys are the ones who run the "final mile." Solo OTR for OD can be a pretty nice gig; they'll pay for the hotel when you go to bed, and you still get 25-3000 miles a week.
