I had one of those the other day, a volume load, but 3 seperate shipments all going to one place. It's somewhat counterproductive to have a team do that, when the company would be better served to keep them moving between the terminals.

I do occasionally, when I do a linehaul on the side.

Old Dominion doesn't have any tandem tractors that I'm aware of, so all their linehaul loads will be on sets.

Got the call from OD that I will be starting in a couple of days. I'm glad to finally be starting out with them, but uneasy about the money I'll be making. I had a real positive feeling about it before, but last time I spoke to the TM about my mileage, he started sounding a little bit like a politician. For all my worrying, I know how it's likely to work out...there will be good weeks, and there will be bad weeks, but if I'm financially strong enough to withstand the lean times and build up some seniority, then it'll probably be fine. Anyway, I'm glad the time is here. This isn't exactly my first trucking job, but you know how it is when you're starting a new one, and hoping this is the one!

That doesn't happen at Estes that I am aware of. I really don't see how you could do that anyway after burning 8 to 11 hours on a run.

Maybe on some short bid runs I could see that but, again I am not aware of anyone having to go out and deliver freight after their LH run.

I do know that on some LH bid runs you will have to take freight off or put it on a trailer occasionally.

BTW - Ya don't have to love it but, it ain't bad work for the money.

Doesn't matter. If you begin and end at the same place every day you have the 16 hour rule to use, and where I work you WILL use it frequently.

That happens in spades where I work. Linehaul drivers get screwed here. You do it or you do not work here.

I like Estes for linehaul, since they give you the option of staying out. I can't really see them sending you out on city work at other terminals.

What do you mean by this?

Does it mean past your 5 working days? (For example, if you start your week on Tuesday, you will get back home on Saturday)

    I'll stick with OD.
I love not having to sleep in my truck.
and i don't have to put up with azzholes at some of these shippers out there. Most of the time i just back in and drop my pups hook 2 more up and I'm on my way.

Generally you are only out a week. However, I just talked to an extra board driver that was out 3 weeks not too long ago.

Yep, thats what it means. I was out 6 days this week. I have been out 10 days in the past. It just means that you will do a reset on the road. Which is fine by me, I usually need to do laundry by then anyway. But if you want to be home in 5 days with a weekend(2days off), they will try to make that happen. It does more often than not.
