That would be a "Ministers Permit"...and I didn't realize it had gotten so expensive.
Had an OWI in 1990...and checked into going to Canada in the mid 90's, and at that time it was like $364.00. Told them to go pound sand. Seems 'shady' to me....i.e.- grease our palms and we will look the other way THIS TIME.
I'll stay right here in the good ol' U.S. of A.

I have two friends that had their records sealed for DUI. Both went to the clerk of courts and asked to make an appearance in front of the judge. They got an appointment. Put on a suit and tie and said please and it was done. I think one was 5 years old and the other maybe 8 years. One was a truck driver. I went with him just in case I could add anything. He stated his case about it causing trouble getting a job.
Judge told clerk to check his record and background and if it was clean to seal the DUI.
Sealed just means it still can be seen by law enforcement but not anyone else without a court order. -
I think that's where mine lays. I got a DWI in 1987. I paid a fine & took a few court ordered alcohol classes. They said if I stayed out of trouble for a year, it would be sealed. I've stayed out of trouble sine '87 so I guess I am good?Skate-Board Thanks this.

So does that mean when an application asks: "Have you EVER had your license suspended or revoked" you can legally answer 'No'?
-
It was never suspended or revoked. The penalties were not as stiff back then as they are today. So, yes, I can say no. The question I would have is....when I am asked "Have you ever been arrested for a DWI?". Because that record is sealed, can I truthfully say no?
-
I wish I could answer that Puppage...I have no idea. I have been dealing with my 25 year old OWI for 25 years (Rapists, Murderers, and Child Molesters get less time). Our Judicial system is whacked.
If I answer "NO" just because I think it has been long enough that it should be nobodies business...I can (and have) be/been turned down for lying on my application...because even after a quarter century, it can easily be found by anyone looking. -
I feel your pain, Dog. I guess it's best to just disclose it and let the chips fall where they may. I mean, honesty being the best policy & all, right?
-
The thing with a Minister's Permit is they can still deny you entry after taking your money.
-
A revoked or suspended license wont be on your mvr after a few years and are not criminal offences, so you dont have to tell a employer about it. A Dui is a criminal offense so it stays on your record and you need to tell em' about that.
-
Screw that. Record sealed the answer is a big fat NO
KenworthGuyNH and Puppage Thank this.
