Im a greenhorn as far as trucking goes just got my cdl a yesterday but the reason I speak up on this is from experience with the very same issue. I did a lot of research and spoke with a lawyer. If it over 15 years and no death involved (which would include a felony Im sure) then you can have it removed in state of NC. Call lawyer in state where you got dui and see what they say. Once removed it will no longer show up. If that's all you got on file and its gone you should have no trouble getting into Canada
Old DUI ?

Regarding Canada. My wife was refused entry ( at the little port of Sweetgrass Montana of all places. It was from a misdeamenef felony over 23 yrs before. bounced a rent check to her landlord because her pay check bounced..
Anyway,,,Canadian Border Patrol told her if she were to pay a $250 fee she would get a "rehabilitation certificate " and allowed further entry...
It's a wonder her reply didn't require a United Nations intervention....had to wait for 36 hrs for the load to be re-powered... -
You know...if this post was directed at me, or included me, let me tell you something.
1). I understand drinking and driving is serious, and MAY end up with someone getting hurt or killed.
2). I was not complaining and/or whining...and if that is how YOU interpret it, that is YOUR problem. I'm simply giving helpful information based on actual experience.
3). There is SUPPOSED to be such thing in this country as "Pay Your Debt To Society"...I do believe having a couple beers 25 freaking years ago, and a squeaky clean record since should be considered me having paid my debt.
I didn't kill anyone, I didn't rape or molest anyone, and I didn't steel millions and millions of dollars from 100's of 1,000's of people...but in this particular industry I can and have been treated as though I have. Yes....it (the Judicial System) is frustrating.DJ Hughes, Puppage and Skate-Board Thank this. -
There is no 'may' get someone killed, it gets tens of thousands of people killed every year.
I'm of the opinion that DUIs should come with mandatory jail time and attempted manslaughter tacked on.
Also, you should never be able to get behind the wheel of a CMV.
That's just what I think about you and your crime. That you're a former criminal and don't like what I think is not surprising at all. -
So, one gets arrested for a DUI and there's no other cars involved or anyone other than the driver arrested, and you want to tack on attempted manslaughter? So, who did they attempt to kill? Do you go to the nearest home and add that person(s) to the police report? There has to be a named person. So, tell us....who is it?

Forget that guy Puppage....it is obvious looking at his 26 messages that all he is here to do is argue, and start crap. It is painfully obvious that is his motive, because I refuse to believe that I share the same 'species' as someone so idiotic. Let him rot. Eventually he'll tick off the Mod's and Admin's and be gone.
Skate-Board Thanks this. -
Agreed. Have a good evening.Skate-Board Thanks this.
