    Hi everyone,

Do you guys know anyone in Texas with some 1960s-1970s models they'd be willing to rent out or sell?

We need at least 2 bobtails and 1 box trailer.

They don't have to be in brand new condition. We would be using them to film inside of, so lived-in is great.

We would not be driving them, just mounting them on a tow while a professional driver hauls them (from a newer rig!) This way it looks like the actor in the driver's seat is driving.

    We will have insurance.

Filming would be August 2021 at the earliest. 2022 or 2023 at the latest.

    Thank you,
    Cath

I don’t have anything complete or running I’d sell. I Have a ‘67 Pete that I try to drive everyday I can.
A 1972 White 4000 that has similar cab and interior to the AutoCar that Stallone drove in Over The Top.
A 1951 Diamond T that was my Great Grandfathers first and only new truck. With a 55 mph top speed that one needs to be trailered if it goes long distances from home. That one is the same model “Spider Mike” drove in “Convoy” but with an earlier cab.
I have a 1973 Peterbilt 352 cabover without engine or trans. Complete but very dirty. Interior is complete but very dirty from sitting in a shop since the early 90’s with the windows down. That one would have to be trailered. Nothing says 70’s trucking like a cabover.

Would just a cab work? I have a 1971 White-Western Star cab and hood. Or a 1969 Peterbilt cab. Dashes are there but both of these would need all the rest of an interior installed.

This would have been the perfect shoutout to CO Bruce up in Blum. Good friend of the family. He sadly passed last Aug of 2019. He had a couple of his trucks that he had owned since new that were in the desert chase and crash up derby scene in Smokey and the Bandit 2. He woulda most likely let them be used again.

Claude Oliver Bruce Jr. March 5,1939 - September 17, 2019.

He even drove it in the film.
This truck now resides in Nebraska. A youngster bought it from him before he passed to restore it back to movie condition.

    Hi everyone,

A few of you following my adventures may know that I was here to research a trucking story set in 1974 a couple years ago. x1heavy stepped up and helped me with a lot of vintage details.

To my shock and delight, the story will be a feature film (rather than a short film) shot in Texas, hopefully this fall.

To populate the truck stops, we will need some vintage semis (1974 and earlier) parked in the background, for which we will pay compensation and provide insurance, accommodation, and gas money. I thought it might be like a mini-convention if anyone is looking for a reason to paid meet up with friends and have a barbecue.

I am also trying to purchase a cab or bobtail from a Peterbilt circa 1970. Doesn't matter if there's a working engine or not--it will be towed during shooting. In order to fit a camera in that tiny cab we will need to cut it apart and fabricate camera mounts. Same stuff they did for Fury Road.

I'll be in Texas March 9-15 working with the Texas Film Commission if anyone in that state or nearby is interested in showing me their vehicles. I'll probably be back again a few times if that date range does not work. I know my Texan friends are having a rough time of it right now.

If you prefer to contact me off this website, my email is cathgulick@gmail.com.

    I'll tell x1heavy y'all said hey.

X1Heavy was a great story teller. Some of what he told you may even be true. Sadly rumor on here has it he passed away a few months ago. Not sure when the last time was you talked to him. Maybe you know something we don’t.

Just emailed with him today, although I hope I'm not blowing his cover by saying so. He seems to be in good spirits and looking forward to a good year. I really loved his stories.

What a trip. We had him dead and buried. Maybe I will get to have coffee with him someday yet.
