Dr. Emmett Brown may have said it best.... "When this baby hits 88 miles an hour you're gonna see some serious Sheeyat!"

Actually there was a V8 427 big block gas engine used in the late 60's to 70's Chev/GMC 5 tons, tandem and single axle tractors and straight trucks. When I first started out I drove a 3 ton straight truck with a 366 cu in version of this engine and graduated to a 427 in a single axle tractor doing peddle loads around town and intra-city. It was a "porcupine" motor just like the 396/427/454 but used a different block, pison/rod/crank necessitating a 1/4 inch higher deck height. Actually, most of the early supercharged BB Chevy engines used the truck block. If I remember correctly Smokey Yunicks 7/8 scale Chevelle got busted out of the Daytona 500 for using the truck block.
IH had a 549 cu in gas engine and Ford a 534.
They weren't fast but yeah, they hauled a loaded 48ft tri-axle along right smart.
