Old Rig?

    And got 2-3 MPG. I've owner both the 366 and a tall deck 427. Pretty stout engines, but sucked gas. I bought two DT466 IH trucks, and went from 3.5 to just over 8 MPG doing local work with several hours of PTO time a day.

    i didn't have time to read thru the whole thread but:


    a) Yes, it's not about HP, you need torque---at least 800-850ft lbs. to reasonably keep up with today's traffic which a stock big block most certainly does not.


    b) OK, the gmc astros DID come with 427's as an option so i guess technically it can work, BUT remember when this was----trucks were much slower then.

    c) Save up for a reman engine----which are around $7K? Or save up for the rebuild.


    i veto the idea; It sounds as though you are undercapitalized and this is no way to go into business. Why can't you drive for a company?
