Good evening.
I found my old Galaxy DV 73V CB radio at my parents house behind some junk the other day, thought I had lost it or thrown it away. Anyways, I put 12 volt power to it and it still powers up and seems to function so far. On to my question, who should I send this old gem to for a good once over and tune up? I don't know much about it but if there is a way to put this old girl back in service I would be interested in pursuing all leads. If it helps, I am located in Omaha.
Thanks in advance.

If the CB guy still works at the Sapp Bros in Council Bluffs Ia I would trust him, if not and you wanted to send it to a shop I would highly recommend Clays in San Antonio Tx, they have a website, check it out.

With that being said, is the radio worth "restoring" or having worked over? I am not a OTR driver but more of a hobby guy who travels with a fifth wheel camper occasionally. If I find that it is worth the effort and a good radio to start with, I don't mind spending some money on it. If the radio wasn't very good to begin with, then I wouldn't mind just buying a new radio and moving on. Thoughts?

The guy in council bluffs is only there on certain days but if you ask the fuel desk they should know what days he is there, he works out of a mobile vehicle, I know that sounds amatureish, but you really need to see his setup its pretty impressive, if I recall he is retired military with electronics background, real nice guy to deal with.bored silly Thanks this.

Instead of mailing it off it would be best to see the cb guy at the Sapp Bros and if he determines that it wouldnt be worth putting money into he also sells radios.

I just called, he is there on Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays. I also have his phone number so I will give him a call and see what he has to say.wolverine11 Thanks this.

Good deal let us know the outcome.

What type of upgrades would you recommend? If the radio is worth it, I would want to make the most of it. I used to have a amp but sold it. Is there a way to upgrade within the radio without an external amp?

I wouldnt recommend any mods except a good, clean transmitter alignment. If Im not mistaken the 73 should have dual 1969 finals and power output should be around 8 watts carrier and pep swing around 30+ watts matched with a good antenna system ( priority #1 ) your transmit and receive range should be excellent.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.
