I've lost a few brain cells along the way, but.....
It seems like I made more money with a 318 Yamahauler than I do today.
I danged sure had more fun!
The 3 mpg didn't matter when fuel was 40 cents a gallon and it didn't matter how long it took to get there, I could stay awake for the duration.

    puncher Thanks this.

Funny they said when i bought the truck my motor would be long dead, under powered, hard to find parts and forgotten........ 15 years later and still going strong! And not so underpowered as you would think, especially since they've only made a 200hp increase in 15 years!

I would rather not sleep while racking in miles, than loosing sleep thinking how I'm going to make the next installment.

Some had the last real CAT motors, the one they built their reputation on, the 1693 425HP, with a little work they would out pull most of todays trucks. Of course there were a lot of Cummings fleet 270's,you used a lot of Georgia overdrive. Back in the 70's very few trucks had jake brakes, hate to see that now.

Yep,who in their right mind would want an 'ol relic like that:biggrin_25522:.Let me know when you decide to put 'er out to pasture:biggrin_25525:

I took my old b in to have the rack run the other day and a young little whipper-snapper came out of the shop carrying his little diagnostic box/computer with him and i just chuckled and said ''print me out a read-out when you get done'':biggrin_2559:,i let him look under the steering wheel while i went in to talk to one of the older mechanics that has a good reputation for doing the overhead.

    You been staying busy,Les?
