Moyes wanted to buy Simon but couldn't, I believe due to some type of gov regulations or something? So his daughter bought it in her name. When I was driving for Swift, it was said that she was to marry CR England's son?

Everybody used to want to drive for Tango just cause they had fast trucks. A local reefer hauler near me had triple digit trucks to run Cali and back. They paid nothing, but everyone wanted those fast trucks. Can't stay in business pulling those shenanigans now.

Big Dogs , the original Diamond T Tractor , Cummins Power , Circa 1957 , Ditto Autocar , Peterbilt 351, detroit 8V92, or buzzin dozen, Dodge Bighorn , circa 1970 , Mack B73 , B75 ...........the Consolidated cab overs had that trim scheme , Hess Cartage broker/steel haulers , 2 OR 3 SPEED brownies , ie , brown lipe chapin transfer cases. Linkage you could chase all over the cab. IH Cabover or Conventional , V8 Cummins Emeryvilles , 2nd axle driven by A cogged belt......nice aroma when trying to get unstuck .The cabover pratically made of windows , almost all glass. My first tractor was A nice green B67 Mack , naturally aspirated Mack engine @185 HP , Triplex trans. Wish I had it now just as A hobby , not to drive all day ! @53 MPH , Top speed , and it sounded as if it was ready to come unglued ! LOL ! When it was still fun ; before the Feds got involved at the level they are.......Times change.. oh ! blue ox engine retarders , block off your exhaust ; simple !

Carriers I remember running cabovers: SNI and JB

Faster rigs: Werner Enterprises was one. My first Werner truck (my treasured Pete 379ex) ran 72 when I got it. Shop never bothered to turn it down when the company started governing the fleet trucks.

Skunk mascot: Easy, Dick Simon's. Although from what I heard there towards the end Simon's would have been better represented with a bull's eye target on a dispatcher's head. From what I understand, drivers shooting dispatchers become something of an inside sport for Simon's drivers. Perhaps points were awarded.
