Cruise control was a sawed of broom stick. Depends you could go pretty fast down hills no so fast up.
Ar and IL where 73280 on the gross..You would use alot of oil cabovers had to be jacked up. No a/c or heat most of the time.

A/C meant you opened the vents in the cab as well as rolling down both the front windows.

Getting a big bug in the face wasn't uncommon.

When I hauled Refers, and needed A/C, we would open the storage doors under the bunks, and shoot a little ice after top icing the load in the Refer.. Had a small 12v fan to blow it around until the ice melted..

No cruise control, no power steering either.. With a light load, might get the ole gal up to 10mph going uphill..

That of course, was the First truck I got... Was a 56 KW conventional with add-on sleeper.. Had to crawl thru a boot where the back window was...

Good ole days, I think NOT....... Also got to drive a few gas pots too....

Some of the fancy trucks had a throttle screw you could twist. That basically pushed the pedal down. Closest I got to cruise control.

No a/c. It was vent windows.

Now. Twin stick in simple terms was a main transmission, with a auxiliary gearbox. 5 and 4. (5 in main). (4 in aux)
One example below but not arm through steering wheel.
Iits splitting gears. Roughly like a 13_speed now. We have a switch not an extra stick.
