Somewhere around here I still have that old fifteen buck a.m. radio. I've had it in the Jeep, a couple of water trucks, a shovel, a yarder, and just hooked up to a 12v battery in the shop. Made in America, too. It was a Radio Shack branded Philco.

Comradiry somewhat still exists. Couple years ago pulled into a pilot due to deteriorating weather and in the morning was iced in about 2" on my tires. And TS didn't carry salt. So I'm out there chipping away the ice and it's probably 0 degrees and windy. So these 2 middle eastern team drivers come over and helped me dig out. Still some good people out there

Speaking of fuel island attendants, when I was running Dunkirk, Ny all the time I would stop at Kwik Fil and buy fuel. They had guys come out and actually meet you and take care of fueling your truck….

    Surprised no one’s mentioned Shutters?
Drove an old White 4000 that had the company logo painted on the shutters.

Lol, yea I know…. we made stingers in some cases, but have been known to switch out the buttons too. In the Cabovers I usually just squeezed off the fuel return till I heard what I was listening for out of the exhaust, it gave you an edge on upside of the grade. Now the stingers… they have you speed… seen a BC350 in a 84 362 hit 2400 rpm with no problem…

Oxbow just mentioned them few minutes ago actually.

Brother in law had an old 1970 International Transtar 400 his uncle drove till he retired at Southern States. It had a big SS painted on the shutters. 8V71N / 13 spd on walking beam suspension….

I remember the hand signals, we used them cause not everyone had a CB. Do you remember getting messages over the AM from your family on WWL?
