You know what was great about them attendants is I could tell em hey throw xx gallons on I could check my load make sure everybody was standing & happy, wash my windows go inside use the bathroom grabe something to drink or what ever and pay for my fuel while they fueled the truck what was really good was some of them knew the game so while the fuel was pumping they would check tires and give everything the once over
Old timers, was it really better before technology?

You know the topless lady stick on calendars mentioned earlier? Danged if when I fueled up at a local fuel stop/convenience store if they didn't offer me one! I haven't seen anybody handing those out for years!

The very next week, remembering what had occurred the week before, I told myself that I would never sleep over the wheel again so I layed out over the doghouse. ###### if I didn't wake up swearing that I must have forgotten to set the brakes and about ripped the parking brake valve out of the dash trying to stop that runaway stopped truck. After two weeks in a row of that I never ever slept in the front again. Sleeper for sleeping - up front for driving - never confuse the two!Bud A., NightWind, IH Truck Guy and 4 others Thank this. -

Pull that plug out, drill it for a 1/8” pop rivet, and glue the rivet in place. Keep cutting the rivet until you can get the plug close enough to start the 1st thread. Tighten it up and it will remind you of a steam engine, rpm’s can get high….
NightWind, IH Truck Guy, Last Call and 1 other person Thank this. -
It was better before the 14-hour rule was imposed upon us.
E-logs are easier, but the 15-minute flexibility of paper logs was nice.
Personally I prefer a 13-speed but automatics are fine for those who would rather have them.OLDSKOOLERnWV, Last Call and Oxbow Thank this.
