Can anyone tell me if any trucking outfit, regardless of size, allow someone to drive for them? I recently got a felony 4 years AFTER i put 4 years into the business (April 2003 to Feb. 2007). I have been out of a truck since Feb. 2007, the only thing stopping me at the time was i was using a Missouri CDL, went through training at C-1 Truck Driver Training in Strafford, MO., CRST footed the bill.

Anyway, getting to the felony, i take full resposibility for it, i was not intentionally trying to hurt the other person, i was stress out from losing the job i had, applying like a madman trying to find work with some success towards the end of April of 2011. As of March 20, 2011 is when i caught the felony, spent 6 days in the county for it, all i want to do is re-obtain my CDL and go back into trucking to make some money. Would like some info on this and is there any trucking outfits, including Owner Operators, that can give me a break within the next year? some trucking outfits will not talk to me for 5 years, if they talk to me at all.

I'm afraid you're probably SOL. You don't say what the felony is for, but it sounds like there was a victim involved? Not good. Using the excuse of being stressed out as a reason to hurt somebody would be a red flag for me to hire you. There's too much day-to-day stress in this business to worry about somebody with a short fuse running around in something with my name on it. I would expect all companies to feel similar.

I'm afraid that time is your only answer. Get a few years behind you and it won't be as big of a deal to some companies. Others will never have any use for you, though. If you're willing to relocate to the oil patch, you might have a better chance at finding something. They need a lot of drivers and would probably be more likely to overlook something like that.

Other than that, maybe find a lawyer to see if you can get it changed to a misdemeanor. Since it's so recent, it might not be too late to get something like that done. That probably won't work, but might be worth a shot. Good luck.
