Flying J was fine before they sold out. From the 1990's into the early 2000's, they were the nicest truckstops out there, with plenty of pumps & parking, the quickest fuel transactions, and the best restaurants and showers. They weren't the stop of choice for the big fleets, either, so they were fairly safe to park in. Their setup with TAB bank (which they owned, IIRC) made them easy to work with as an O/O running on my money, and their clientele was heavily O/O. Admittedly, most didn't have a shop, but other than that, they were as nice as Petro was before TA ruined them. Nowadays, I don't go near them, they're barely a shell of what they were.

Funny thing, I still remember my frequent fueler number, from the days when that would start the pump. 31xxxx, I got it around 1989, which was right before they really started expanding.

    You are absolutely correct.
Retired now, I don't have to get anything done.
Wait a minute, the cat box needs to be scooped.....

But what do they say?, those ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it.
Like this move from GM, 40 years after they got rid of their private fleet:

I not only had a frequent fueler card, I also had bank accounts and charge cards with the TAB bank they owned in Utah.
I was ALL IN right up until the day Pilot announced the takeover.

Before the Peelot took over, Flying J didn't take Comdata/Comcheks. Not after 1996, anyway. But Flying J's TAB bank did. So I would call them with an express code and they would deposit it in my account. Then I would use their debit card to get cash price fueling at the J. Thought when they started taking Comdata it would be better. Not.

I'll have to look into why it's still listed. That place reeks of Fallout New Vegas!!
