Still driving my little truck, singing my little songs. It's a tough life for a girl still. And yes. Less facilities for women but that is naturally market demand driven so I don't take it personally.
I haven't been told to "get back in the kitchen" for years though, so it's definitely improving. The Goat and I are still livin' the dream.

The difference between her and you though is UTG, I have never read a post of yours that I could construe as whining or blaming your gender for the hurdles you’ve faced. So don’t take my lambasting her as I’m a misogynist. Her problems she described could affect any of us. I’m pretty sure I was discriminated against based on age and health by two companies when I transitioned from my flatbed gig to the place I am now. I can’t prove it but I’m not bitter about it. Her whole opening post then her rude response to DuneT and screen name just smack of victimization and entitlement syndrome. Neither of which you could ever be remotely accused of. Even the original issue of getting kicked to the curb by bolt over the construction zone speed issue you never whined about. I spend a lot of Time in the Wolverine state and you just happened to get picked that day. I know women have been relentlessly discriminated against in this industry but that seems to be less and less. So keep on trucking , keep the greasey down and the shiny up UTG ! I always like seeing you post to make sure you’re still out there fighting the good fight!broke down plumber, MACK E-6, Albertaflatbed and 2 others Thank this.

I had a woman driving water truck for me last season. She was 70. I hope she comes back this year. If I hadn't hired her my competitors would have. Fine driver.broke down plumber, wulfman75, kemosabi49 and 6 others Thank this.

At the 2 or 3 flight schools I was at, the ladies were the easiest to teach. Frequently, they didn't have the practical skills some of the male students showed up with. They hadn't rebuilt car engines, lawnmowers, flown RC aircraft, etc. but they didn't avoid study and ground-school like it was poison. They were studying machines and never showed up late and unprepared for class or flights. Male students often don't study well/often or value books and classroom instruction too highly. They just wanted to fly and see every lesson done in the aircraft. The ladies STARTED off-ground instruction near the top and air instruction near the bottom, then improved wildly, fast. The ladies didn't resist or make up their own way. They NEVER did anything reckless, except maybe date a flight instructor. Guys would sometimes get booted from the program for things like flying under powerlines or unauthorized aerobatics.

I've told this story before, in the 70s, my grandmother, who never had her dr. license one day expressed interest in doing so. When my grandfather heard that, he said,,,,,"you have no business driving a car, you just stay in the kitchen where you belong",,
as we all stood aghast, he truly meant it. She never did get her license. Thank God those attitudes died with him.
Albertaflatbed, Flat Earth Trucker and UturnGirl Thank this. -
We have female drivers where I work. One in particular drives a straight truck and she fits in quite well. We treat her like one of the guys. I for one don’t view her presence as horning in on our racket. I’m personally glad she’s here doing her job so I don’t get stuck having to do it.
I got my own run to do. I don’t want any parts of anybody else’s. -
Growing up with a set of grandparents where grandma never had a license I’d rather live in a world with those attitudes than one in which we are told there are more than two genders and grown men play womens sports and use womens bathrooms
-
So let's kill two birds with one stone - ban women from getting any type of license or playing sport. /s
