Older women, new CDL, big problems....

Wow, talk about a classic TTR derail, I can usually tell who doesn't have a lot of interaction with younger people. My kids are 40 and 38, and they live in a much more universal world than my grandparents, or parents ever dreamed of.( although my mom was cool,,,stifled, but cool) I informed my kids, "when I start sounding like grandpa, let me know", as racism will be around forever, it's how we adjust to it. My daughter, my grandpas great grand daughter, turned out very successful, and I'd love to ram that in his face, it didn't come from a pot of chicken soup( that grandmas was awesome, BTW), it came from my and my ex-wifes support, you can do anything kid, and she sure showed us, AND the world, women do an incredible job, once old attitudes are gone. Think of all the wasted talent.
I live in a very progressive town, and poor gender and race views are still around, but dying fast. Hey, these people aren't monsters, they are respectable members of our community, our freakin' gubnor is gay for cryin' out loud and guess what? We pretty much all get along in sunny Colorado, except maybe Aurora. We've come a long ways, baby,,

Every female trainee I introduced to chemical tankers had equal ability and often appeared to really listen to everything!

Especially regarding PPE and safety shower/eyewash awareness.

I have encountered a couple 'drama queens' that didn't work out however MOST of the ladies I've worked with were positive self starters that were a pleasure to have driving one of our trucks.

When I retired there was one lady, maybe 110# on a rainy day, driving one of our TICO spotters that could cut the Inter-modal bolt seal and open up any container better than ANY of the 'guys'...never called out sick on a Monday...never a complaint from customer or phone calls from irate motorists.

OP will find her way but there are a lot of discouragements that affect any driver.

At least some of the physical difficulties that existed are gone in this day of automatics and power steering everywhere.

I've have heard old hands dislike auto's when backing as the drive-line stops when off the throttle unlike a manual and they were so used to ghosting back at idle while lining things up.

I remember the wife half of a new team with that old 'armstrong' steering Mack where she got us backed in to pump off but couldn't get the wheel around enough to get out.

Once I could see that she was doing the right thing and just couldn't 'manhandle' the wheel and knowing the team Macks DID have power steering, I got us out of that tight spot.

Yes and no , cant have a cdl if there is a severe mental condition as i understand it but they can go into the womens bathroom .

I remember years ago we had a girl working with us. This girl was built like a brick #### house. She want to know how to get a CB handle . I said got one for you”double stack.”She was awesome. Very good driver

They had a woman that was very well built on a show with Danny Bonaduce and she was slamming her boobs down on a pop can flatten them out. Imagine what that would do to someone’s head .that’s the way I wanna die ha ha ha
