The only way to control the amount of down time and the location of down time is to become an O/O where you are selecting your own loads, ie, Landstar.

Blackadder47, thanks, I will look into them.

bigtruck360, also thanks and I like what you said about being a name not a number, that's hard to find these days. How are their trucks? And I konw what you mean about being out that long, that's what made me go local back when my kid was young and I was married. Now, with my new lifestyle status so to speak, this should be no problem.

Everett, you nailed it. This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Getting to do/see things you might not get the chance to do otherwise. Your battleship senario is awesome, perfect example. I got no problem running and busting my ###, then taking a break somewhere random to recharge my soul. I used to do it when I would run 48's into manhatten twice a week for Steelcase. All no touch so once I parked it, it was sleep or sightsee until they were done. Took the wife a few times and we saw a show lol. Granted, the same place place gets old after a while but you see my point? And I want to get started BEFORE I get stuck with more bills, right now all I'll have is cellphone and a storage unit.

Dryver, thanks but not an option unfortunatley for me.

'olhand, I'm residing in NE Philadelphia right now.

Thanks to all for their advice, keep it coming.

    No disrespect fella...

But your way to young to be an 'Old timer'...

Old timers start at around mid 50's and above...true warriors from the old days...

At 40, your still a pup...

    continue...

:biggrin_25512:Yeah! I was trying to figure out how he was so "OLD" when I have a son-in-law that's 49 and I can remember the 60's (and the 50's) ...although some of my friends from then can't.....:biggrin_25522:

Lol, actually I was supposed to title it "semi-old-timer..." little play on words and for some reason I didnt do it. Ok, thanks for making me feel young but still, 40 ain't no spring chicken, and when I started most drivers I met had 25+ years on the road but now I see most are 5 and under, so I thought I was in the middle somewhere, lol.

BTW, watching the news about the tornado in Mass. they caught on tape. Is it just me or is there a lot of natural distruction going on these past few months?

Don't mean to create a thread in a thread lol.

Oh, pipe down! 40 is not OLD!! I'll be 43 in 12 days. If you're OLD, then I'm fartin DUST!

I don't feel OLD today. So neither are YOU!
