Hey RZ. Not trying to burst your bubble or anything like that...So please dont get offended. But please let us know how it goes after 3 or 4 months of you running with them. Companys preach and preach safety and legal logs right up until they need you to get that one particular load there in a rediculous amount of time, "Just this one time" It would be nice to hear if they are serious about your safety and the safety of others considering they are one of the countrys biggest outfits.

Glad to hear you are enjoying so far though.

I have to agree with you about how many companies preach one way and turn out another. So far though alot of it is ringing true. I have talked to quite a few of the drivers now, and they all seem to say the same thing. I also agree though, that a few months on the road will better tell the story. I am cautiously optimistic at this point, and frankly I'm usually wondering what I've gotten myself into at this point in an orientation. I have my fingers crossed that even half what they say is true, because if it is I may have found a company I can really stick with.

    Update
Well I completed orientation, and my first trip. Back home exactly as promised, so far so good. The last day of orientation was interesting. We attended a company meeting, where officials addmitted that the company is struggling financially. It seems that on the heels of record profits in the previous year, the closing of many paper mills due to a stronger Canadian dollar, has created a freight shortage. This is not a publicly traded company so there is no requirement for them to discuss financial numbers, but that's just what they did. It bodes well for company honesty if nothing else.
They gave me my assigned unit.
    2006 Volvo VN670
    ISX 400
    12 speed Meritor Freedomline
    speed limted at 62mph
It's a nice unit, though I admit it's a bit light on power, and the auto will take some getting used to.

Anyway the gist of it all is that I am willing to give them a good solid try and see what happens. We'll see how it all really looks in a couple of months.
