My husband is looking into cdl trucking jobs that pay school as well. We are in nw pa right next to the Ohio border, does millis hire from all states?

From your thread (which was great btw!) It seems millis is one of the top schools we were looking at Roehl, pam, and prime also.

When you say your making about $700 a week after cs, does that include after taxes? We need about 50k to start if possible, and was just wondering if that's feasible for the 1st year?

    DRAGON64 Thanks this.

I think it's age 10 and above but that may not be right. It's somewhere between age 10-12 and their is a small monthly fee for insurance.

    tanker1045 Thanks this.

With Millis you put $100 down to reserve spot in class and then 1st day of class you pay $400 more. After that they take out $20 a week for school and $20 a week for hotel from your paychecks for roughly the 1st yr. If your husband is prior military there is a big discount on schooling cost. You would Def be in Millis hiring area as we have a terminal in Trenton Ohio. This is my 1st year and I'm going to gross over 50k easy. Probably be closer to 60-63k. All depends how often you go home and how hard you work while out. I stay out 2.5 weeks and go home for 3-5 days. Also Millis pay during training is 1 of best out there. While with a trainer trainees get paid 25 cents a mile for ALL miles the truck is dispatched on no matter if it's trainer driving or trainee. Any other questions feel free to ask and I'll gladly help if I can. Millis has been top notch during my 1st yr

Thank you for the quick reply!

So, with the $500 upfront, and the $40 taken out every week, does any get reimbursed after the 1 yr commitment?

I'm thinking this will be one of the better companies from what I'm seeing, we're just waiting until after the new year with income tax to make sure we have some fallback money just in case.

Nothing gets reimbursed but if you stay the whole 1st yr you're getting a discount on the school. If you leave prior to completing a year you owe the full amount for scool and hotel.

If you stay for a year, you're all paid up. However, if you stay for a total of 18 months, you will be fully reimbursed. At least that's what I was told. In order to qualify for that reimbursement, you'll need to maintain a squeaky clean safety record. Also, I'm getting $30 taken out per week for school, not $40.

I would like take a moment and say thank you to Steelersjunkie for starting 2 extremely information threads, and also to keen98, F150Jim and all the others (I'm sorry, my memory is really good but very short, so I don't remember all everyone's names) for chiming in during and providing more information.

While I just officially joined tonight I have been following these threads since just a couple days after the 1st one started, and between these threads and the Millis website most of the 57 questions I have listed to ask a recruiter have been answered with a fair amount of certainty. I am still going to ask them anyway but I can't thank you enough for the time and effort to get the information out there for all of us.

2 questions if anyone knows though...

What is the smoking policy at Millis? I don't have many vices but Marlboro is my addition.

Also, I don't remember where I heard/read this but I remember that along the lines i was told while you are with your trainer there is no radio of any type allowed. Is that true?

If you smoke and your trainer doesn't, you'll need to adjust. There is an option for you to request a trainer that smokes. I smoke. It was more important for me to end up with a trainer that had a stick, because I didn't want the restriction on my license. I dealt with going 3-4 hours without nicotine so I could have what I wanted. You can smoke all you want when you get your own ride. As far as music goes...hell no man, you won't be riding in silence. My trainer and I listened to music all the time.
