If you have the choice then choose Trenton. Bill is a very good instructor. I don't know the Richfield instructor anymore cuz mine quit right after my class graduated. Bill in Trenton has been doing this a long time though and he will lead you in the right direction to succeed.SHOJim Thanks this.

Chris quit?

Richfield is Jamie. I like him a lot. Really super guy. But I agree 100%. If given the choice, I'd go to Trenton.SHOJim Thanks this.

Yup. Not exactly sure what happened. He wasnt happy bout a few things when my class was there last Aug/Sept of 2015, and then bout month or 2 later he posted on Facebook saying he was no longer employed with Millis and to use personal email instead of his millis email. I never asked him what happened, didn't think it was my business. It's too bad to I really liked him as an instructor.Suspect Zero and slim shady Thank this.

Here's what sucks about school...You'll be in different trucks that have different feels, which results in different trailer reactions. Last night I had to do some crazy maneuvers to get my truck in the garage. I guarantee I couldn't have done it in school, and I might not have been able to do it as easily in another truck. Life changes a lot when you get your own truck. You will learn how it acts and reacts to every situation. Your truck is a living breathing animal, and you will develop a relationship with it over time, and you'll be backing like a pro. I'm not fast. But I am accurate and deliberate. And I listen to the truck. While you are in school, all you need to do is be good enough to get you to a trainer. Just relax and breathe. You got this. It'll take months of being on your own before you feel even halfway competent with backing. And by the way, embrace the automatic that you will most certainly get. I love mine. And I mean truly love it.Last edited: Jan 15, 2017
FalconsFan21 and SHOJim Thank this. -
From what I've discussed with drivers who frequent my jobsite, automatics seem to be loved or abhorred. Is it the lack of potential power or what that drivers don't like? I think not having to double clutch would be awesome, but I haven't even started down that road yet.

Autos are disliked by folks who have been driving for a while and used to a stick. I get it, 100%. I won't ever drive an automatic car. But a semi....way different story. I won't go back to a stick.

Most of it from my experience is just a macho thing. Old timers think driving a manual "makes you a trucker". Also the 1st renditions of autos in semi's were terrible so that's what alot of guys base their opinion on. But today's auto is pretty #### good, and makes things alot easier for a newbie starting out with so many things to try learning and concentrating on while driving.Steelersjunkie Thanks this.

I dislike autos because they shift too slow and excellerate too slow. At fast changing stop lights you can't make it thru the light before it changes. Sometimes they can't figure out what gear they want to be in. We can run 70 in 9th gear but it wants you to be in 10th at 55mph killing any power you are building up to merge with traffic. I shift mine in manual a lot when heavy or in traffic trying to make light changes.
speedyk Thanks this.
