I also dislike the frequency the autos have issues. Any sensor goes out and you can't move the truck. In a manual I have limped trucks back to the shop with no working clutch.

Steelersjunkie I just want to thank you so much for your original thread about making your choice and going to school at Millis, and now this thread about your experience in your own truck and out on the road! I was reading your posts for the last 6 weeks or so before finally making my account and joining the forum officially. Millis should probably give you a referer fee from these threads lol, I know I had many different options in mind of where to go and get my training but I am almost 100% sure I am going to go with Millis after reading your threads and comments on this forum. I live outside of Atlanta and would be going to the Cartersville location so I am looking to get as much information as I can about that specific school/trainers etc. One thing I really want to find out, I am not in a position to go the full length of schooling and until that first pay check with no income and think I will need to get a part time job near the school to make some money in the evenings until I get on the road with a trainer. Other than homework, are there any nightime requirements while in school that would make that impossible? I am ex-military and for years have been used to working multiple jobs at the same time, late nights etc. so I believe I can make it work and keep up with the classwork etc, just want to make sure there is something I'm no aware of that would make that impossible.
Thanks so much for everyone's comments and input on here, I look forward to becoming part of the amazing trucking community!

keen is no longer with Millis, he took a gig that got him home weekends to be able to see his kids more, if I remember correctly.

Yup that is true. If it wasn't for having twin 4 yr old boys I'd still be with Millis, but being gone 2.5 weeks at a time was taking its toll on them. Never know though I may be back eventually

Well, I will never discourage an ambitious person, but I can't see working and going to school at the same time. Plus trying to find a place around school that would give you such a temporary employment. You're better off, in my humble opinion, to just plan on 6 weeks with no income.
