$50 a month? They're probably eating crackers and water. When I was OTR I'd spend about $60 per week on food from grocers.
-
$50 a month would be difficult and if it is possible it sounds like it would be incredibly unhealthy, things like top ramen, mac and cheese and other high sodium, high in preservative stuff.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
I think those guys were a tad bit on the exaggeration side.Think they meant 50 a week. Not much buys 50 to begin with so how can anyone live off that per month.
-
50 a weeks sounds right cause your not gonna be buying alot of frozen meat. Mostly microwave stuff.

Drivers really cause their own problems here....there are literally thousands of places that a driver can stop and eat a very healthy meal...thousands...granted you may have to actually spend some time planning , but if folks took as much time planning their days as they need meals can be figured in.... after all if you don't have your health , and can't pass a DOT physical because you won't take the time to take care of yourself , you can lay the blame for that nowhere else , but at your own feet. It is gonna cost more than $50 a week though...that was more than likely a mistake, they meant to say a week instead of a month.

50$ a month i guess they just go to walmart buying bread, soup, banana, cheese and soda for 50 $ and that's it for a month it's possible because some of us are just cheap if a driver spend 50$ every month for food i would automatically think he doesn't have a map, gps or any important tools that we need out there they spend 50$ a month for food and they use their cell phone gps to go places because everything else is too expensive lol
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Depends on what you eat and how much... If you cook your own... Use beans, veggies, rice with small amounts of meat... I could see it. Figure unless you're flat bedding and having to load and tarp, or loading/unloading your own truck, there really isn't much need for too many calories. Beans and rice together make a complete protein and are quite tasty... There is also quinoa and soybeans which are a complete protein... Now you go a buy the roasts, steaks, fancy cheeses, canned/bottled drinks... Yeah, it will get expensive, but you CAN eat healthy without spending bunches of money...
