Yes, we do have a smart phone but if we want to start choosing our own loads, aside from using the boards in truck stops, there must be another way. Ill check out some of the mifi information and see if that will solve the problem.

Millenicom.com $59 a month for 20 GB. $69 for unlimited. Good coverage nationwide.

virgin mobile uses sprint network and last i checked was 49/month unlimited. prepaid like u said, very few issues when i was using it. MUCH better than t/s internet. it IS more expensive...the t/s internet costs as little as 15/month if you buy a year at a time, but then you only have access at those times when you are at THAT particular chain. what about the 4 hours you are waiting to be loaded at the shipper? or when then t/s is full? or when...blah blah blah there are a thousand reasons to be stuck somewhere OTHER than a truck stop. and thats not even taking into consideration that you wont be able to park at YOUR chain t/s every time. so...you could pay for loves AND pilot AND t/a, but then you are up to nealy the same or more than buying the prepaid plan, and you still dont have access all those times when you are stuck somewhere else.

I had sprint years ago when I lived in the big city (it was actually nextel then) and I had great service, but I had to drop it after moving to MS because it just didnt work for me. Hows the Sprint coverage on the road? We definitely need an unlimited plan....Ill check into it. I can handle having one less cell phone if it gives me internet coverage to keep in touch with the family and allows us to check load boards along the road.

Sprint coverage is the poorest, Verizon has the best coverage.
richhawn, FFE Driver, platinum and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hanadarko Thanks this.

Verizon has the best coverage...I use Verizon's MIFI Puck...Its $50/month for 5GB and $10/GB after 5. You can take it anywhere. Then you can do what you want and your not tying up your smartphone
Dieselboss Thanks this. -
We had Verizon and loved it, but when the bottom fell out and we were both unemployed for years our bill got pushed to the side in lieu of really important bills, and we still owe them a lot, so I guess we wont be getting a Verizon air card on a contract.

Jack the Wahck: That is a good deal. I could not find that rate on the Verizon website. Do you have a link or the name of the plan? Do you have a contract?
