Hello, drivers!
Well, I just got the call from Green Bay, which is that SNI has cleared me for re-hire. I ran OTR out of Edwardsville and NER out of Carlisle for a bit over a year... now, I've moved to Charlotte and went for intermodal, but those slots are being filled with internal transfers. I'm going to go for SE Regional. Since I live in Charlotte, I can do 6-7 days out. They'll put me on a backup list for intermodal, apparently. I'll talk to the recruiter for these boards and then go thru whatever check-ride etc. and so forth they need me to.
Looking for jobs in the trucking world, I realized I had a very good albeit imperfect situation with SNI. No one there was really a jerk to me; my Edwardsville TE did take himself way too seriously, but whatever. I know the way they do business, a good number of the regular customers, I know they just flat pay lumpers, no matter what, and I know how to make the most of my weeks out with them. I had my pumpkin set up pretty well. I take the jabs given by other drivers too hard sometimes, and I don't like a 70mph highway with the slow trucks. I can live with those things. I could not live with being told to run illegally, sitting around too much or having service & reliability problems.
See, with perspective comes gratitude!Anyone reading this running SER, I'd love to hear from you.
