That's not the same as our situation either. This person was coming back after home time on the 'family plan'. It's all slip seating and you have to hope they have a truck available when you are ready to go back to work. That's one reason my husband is planning on staying out as long as he can so he doesn't have to slip seat too much the 1st 90 days.
If they are giving the family plan trucks to newbs, like the OP said, that could be great for my husband.
My husband is going to be done with a trainer in 2 weeks and going into his own truck.
Once training is done - how long before getting a truck?

Took 1 1/2 weeks for me to get in my truck after training but I'm not in the family plan and not really sure how they work that. This was at the Gary,IN terminal.
-
Dang, that sucks.
Granted, it is a different terminal and they are all different (so I'm hearing).
What did you get to do when you came back from your trainer? -
Nothing goes fast when you first start with Swift. Sometimes you will have no wait for a truck and sometimes you will wait for a week or more. Does not matter what terminal you are at. Just depends on what's available.
I have seen 10 trucks waiting on drivers and two hours later they are all gone. Best thing to do is get off that mentor truck as soon as you are ready. Also I have not seen anyone making 40 cents a mile working for Swift that just started even with some experience. maybe I am wrong but you may want to find out how much.
remember one thing. just because you get a truck does not mean you are going to make enough to live on for the first month. usually hard times when you first start then it gets better. -
YOU ARE BEING PAID

I can see where this whole thing is going to end...........
harleymanjax and inkeper Thank this. -
AMEN brother! -
That section only works from the kiosks. -
Also, when I finished with my mentor it took 3 days to get a truck, and I went directly on to a dedicated account. Went OTR a couple months later though as I couldn't handle the 100% driver unloads. -
Tried update info on home internet. Was told it had to be done at a terminal kiosk.
The recruiter specifically said that he would make .40/mile due to 5+ years experience.
Good to hear someone went immediately (ok, 3 days) into a truck and on dedicated.
It's not OUR fault that the company doesn't give this information at orientation (pay, truck wait time, how/where to access info)!
