One Last Beer

Dang tear jerker threads...

 

We are cancer survivors ourselves, going on 14 years or 15, we lost count.

It will return somewhere sometime someday. That will be a difficult day unless you managed to do something while you still have time that is meaningful.

 

I know right?! I'm gonna hold it in though(sniffles) I'm a thug

 

Im worse, coldblooded and mean like a mountain lion. But inside I am such a softie. I'll do anything not to have that last beer. Call me a coward. Should have had a thousand beers long before THAT day when it is known to hospice by certain specific body signs that death is pending for some. I would not wait all the way to that one day for one beer, I'll just make a mess of it.

Every year for the last 6 years now we have been losing people in ones and twos. Someday I'll tell about old aunt mary towing a 5 gallon oxygen tank up half a landing until she pales out, drags on two cigerettes and then assaults the next half flight to the second floor with that 5 gallon tank sloshing behind her.

She died hard. As did my grand father. 12 heart attacks and no cigars, no women, no wine no nothing worth doing. He died doing grass with a spiral manual out front one day on the 13th. We buried that one deep.

There are people you don't barely wipe a tear because they were tough and not great. But when it comes to last beers with people like this one well.. Its really hard.
