If we have any more problems with this one, I will be taking the housing off and checking wiring. With all the shaking in the cab, who knows?

Yeah, stupid stock power cords for the coleman coolers are junk. After I went through a couple, here's what I did:

cut the cigarette plug adapter off, and hooked the wires to a couple of those large sized alligator clips I had lying around, then clamped them onto the +/- cables of my inverter.

No more overheating, 2 years running.

Well I sent my 40 quart Coleman back to the factory. This was the second cooler from them. I went through 2 cords on the previous cooler. I requested Coleman refund my money as well, rather than send me another replacement. They agreed upon receipt of a proof of purchase and the defective cooler. It may take 4 to 6 weeks to get a refund though.

The second cooler worked well for about 3 months and then stopped cooling altogether. I lost some lunchmeat, cheese, and milk I had in there. They all spoiled thanks to their defective product.

The wife decided to buy a dorm style refrigerator instead to replace it. She went to Wal-Mart and got a mid size one for $98.00. Heck this little fridge even has a small freezer for about the same price I spent on the cooler. Man it is so nice having ice cold milk, water, and soda! The little thing actually froze a liter of Aquafina water over nite! Very cool in my opinion.

Now I just have to remove one of the plastic cabinets from behind 1 of the seats and put the refrigerator in its place to get it out from the middle of the floor. The 1500 watt inverter we have seems to be powerful enough to run it with no problems.

There is a way of making the coleman coolers in real fridge. But it taks a little work. You will have to find 2 more of the electric fridgisters. they are sold by electronic supply stores. After you pick up the fridgisters contact me directly and I'll tell you how to make the unit work. It will cool by 80 degrees. the unit will have to have a fan on both side. Inside and outside of the cooler. Mine works great no problems at all.
