The learning never stops. I retired in 2011 after doing it for over 40 years. 33 with the same company.

The day you stop learning please stop driving.

Best advice for getting a routine started i ever got was touch EVERYTHING. checking your doors are locked? grab and yank em. Checking if your 5th wheel locked? Lean against the same strut and flash it with a light. Tap each light as you walk past to make sure they arent loose ect. When you wake up jog around your truck a couple times check everything and jog around again. Helps you wake up and helps drive home the pretrip as a routine.

This establishes both mental and muscle memory. And if you forget something it will bug the HELL out of you. If you think you forgot something, go look. the 40 seconds it costs you will save you hours of paperwork and down time.
