For optimal online gaming with first person shooters like BF4, Call of Duty etc,.. optimal ping times to the server is critical for a good gaming experience. Anything over a 60ms ping can result in what looks to you like you just shot up an enemy,.. you just emptied a full clip into him,.. just to watch the screen flash,.. your now on the dirt,.. dead and he just ran off.

    Why?

Because of lag,.. aka peer to server latancy.

What you saw was a delayed reaction from the server. In real time the enemy saw you,.. shot you first and killed you. The lag on your part did not allow your game to reflect this until your game caught up with the server and everyone else.

I've tried these games on wireless. It was sketchy at best. Some moments were good,.. but mostly a lot of lag.

Optimally you want a 20 - 40ms ping time to the server. Any more than that and you will become an instant head shot.

Ya I wouldn't want to play any competitive twitch (Control not the live streaming service) based mutliplayer on high latancy connection or you'll get just frustrated. Glad those type of games aren't my scene.

I love them,.. I go back year and years ago. Quake, Team Fortress, Star Seige Tribes, Unreal Tournament,.. I've always been hooked on them.

I never had the patience for leveling up on MMO's,.. I liked a few RTS,.. but quickly grew bored after figuring out which race mined and built the fastest,.. rush or be rushed. Got old real fast.

Those were my teen years. So many games of CS1.5, COD1, BF1942. But now I enjoy a game for a good story more then getting my ### kicked.

Fallout, mass effect, Telltale games are my enjoyment anymore.

You try Fallout 4 then yet? Lots of story, lots of "open non-linear play." You can toggle between FPS or 3rd person at will (every game should do that!) It's been like digital crack for me lately.

Ya I was sitting in laredo when it came out. I was a little sad when they sent me a load while I was starting it for the first time.

Dying Light is a good one. Need more drive space before I can download the update. "The Following".
