If you have not paid for your school yet I would suggest doing all of your research and getting your cold hard facts before you do. Cold hard facts do not include brochures from companies or what the school or recruiters tell you. Read posts here from drivers, talk to drivers in person if possible, talk to the companies and ask many questions.

Based on where you live you may have trouble finding a company to hire you at all. Talk to them first before you pay for school. Depending on what school you are going to, the will tell you anything you want to hear as well. After all they do want your money. Prehires mean nothing, you are not hired until you complete orientation. Do your research and best of luck.

Don't get your heart set on any particular company unless you go to a company school.

Get a prehire at every company you can. Stuff happens! I know what I am talking about. They might put you off, because they are full up. Keep several in your pocket and they pick where you want to go. One week before going to Werner they checked my MVR and my state had left something on my record that was wrong. I got it fixed, yet Werner denied my app.

Trust me, they get people that cancel out at the last minute. You can politely tell them you have chosen to go with a different carrier.

My future step son told me the new Volvos are the only truck with a 5 star rating on their ride. They have air bags on the steering on the new ones.

Lets get off topic for a moment, What music do you werner truckers listen to, to get away from that awful highway hipnosis, to give you a pick me up, or just to jam?

Sirius radio. If not that, Bob Marley, Credence, Satchmo, Nora Jones, Clapton, Stone Sour, Alan Jackson, Willy, AC/DC, Motley, Doors, Van Morrison, lots of bluegrass, and so much more. Ive got a very large music palette. I dont listen to rap/hip hop, or mainstream country pop crap.

I've been there 7 months now and I 'm very happy for a start up company I think the key is to have ontime deliveries and a good attitude with your dispatcher.I usely get 2500 miles and usely dont sit very long if I do they will give me a relocation load to get me in a good area for freight. Most companies don't do that so get your year in and move on you'll never get rich here.
I read these post and wonder what these guys are doing to be screwed over so bad 9 times out of ten its the lazy drivers Ive learned this from sitting at terminals listening to these guy ##### and whine about how there getting screwed and from listening to there stories its the own fault.
Just realize your just a number here but I think Werner is much better than Swift I worked there as for the other companies not sure.Always call consinee see if you can deliver early then Im sending my dispatcher a mess ready for load. If thyt see you eager and a hard worker they'll give you loads if your always late and not ready for loads you'll have a rough road.

No, I don't agree. When on FD you still work for Werner. FD is the CUSTOMER. Werner still decides how much you get paid, what your benafits are, if you drive the rout, what truck you get, etc. FD or any other customer doesn't decide this. The driver that made the origional post about Warner had good information and shouldn't have been brushed off implying he didn't have TRUE Werner information.

Tewksey what didn't you like at Swift. Good chance I am going there. I have a choice there or with a smaller carrier. It is a case of who can get me rolling first.
