The spike of fear when the little red def light comes on....and you own the truck.

 

I have a couple of them.....when you go home and eat a home cooked meal for the first time after 4 to 6 weeks on the road, that is a different food coma then what you get on the road lol

Another is if I kick back a few cold ones and get a soul cleansing sleep, the new man I feel like when I get back at it, is like none other. Man I could probably talk about some of those feelings all day. Some aren't even good ones all the time, but I tend to stay more on the positive side.

 

That feeling you get when you realize that you just reached for the dash valves in your personal vehicle.

Or when you start to slow down because the weigh station sign says Open, then you realize you don't have to go in cuz you've only got four wheels on the ground.

 

Being all alone on a 2 lane in southwestern Kansas, or any other similar place with long stretches of road for that matter, in the middle of the night, cold outside, nice and comfy in the cab, AM on a local country station with the volume low so you can just make out who's singing, the low whine of the turbo and hum of the tires.

That's when you're thinking, I wish every night could be like this, God I love truckin!

 

That feeling when your driving your 4 wheeler and you realize you don't constantly have to readjust the math for the ETA to your destination every time you get gas or a meal

 

Yellowish liquid in a Gatorade lemon lime bottle sitting on the curb is not someone’s drink that they forgot to grab.

 

Feeling of dread when the red light illuminates on the PrePass.

 

When you've had a solid multi week run and the truck feels all loose and vibraty and worn out, noises you never noticed before...then you get home and do a wash and service, and the next time you head out after a good rest it feels like a new truck. Quiet and smooth...
