    Hello everyone,

I am exchanging my Alberta license for Ontario Class A, but I have to do a road test at DriveTest center this week.

I got my Alberta license last year and the test was real easy, only took maybe 40 minutes for everything. I know Ontario has stricter rules and was wondering if anyone can give me tips on what to do in test.

I am not worried about driving part of the test as i have been driving since got my license but more curious about Circle check and pre-trip inspection etc.

Some questions that pop up in my mind.
*Do i have to do brake adjustment chack on all brakes? Seems like it ll take alot of time just by myself.
*Do i need to say what defects would be major and minor with everything I inspect?
*Should I take a class at school to get ready for test?

    Thanks in advance.

I did my test over a year ago. I believe they ask you to do 2 or 3 air brake tests at random. If you do get the brake adjustment it will be on a steer. You need to know the major and minor defects but you can read the defects off of the schedule 1.They want the wording from the schedule 1 so bring that with you. I don't believe you are allowed any kind of cheat sheet so don't write on it.

I would not take a class for it just study your airbrakes and do your walk arounds touching everything and secure and no damage.

You will do a couple/uncouple, road test, and a 90 back. I think it is like 3 pull forwards before you start losing points. The whole test should be 40 mins to an hour.

look at the AZ and air brake books from ont gov/ mto online - read it a few times, make notes- visualize as you read pertinent sections (pretrip- AB) it will help you maintain familiarity and give you confidence during your test.
