I wonder how cargo theft, and smuggling things out is affected by port automation. It seems to be a thriving problem at our port now without it

No fault insurance and a victim fund.

Problem automated trucks might have is as a driver I often see cars shooting 3 lanes over the get to the ramp and brake knowing I’ll be cut off . Or ramp runners who cut back at last second inches away but your expecting it. I guess on the bright side they may be hit now and charges accordingly . GTA drivers will love them if they able to stop truck and run like a train in front of the effectively closing a lane down.

I've ridden in waymo cars over a dozen times. It does get a little frisky, but is very aware of it's surroundings.

As someone who drove around these things, up and down Interstate 8 and 10 LA to Dallas TX. I can tell you 100% the technology is not anywhere near replacing anyone. All those "successful runs" the news likes to put on blast, were planned to a level of a shuttle mission.
