I'm glad OOIDA came in cost effective for you. For me they came in 2nd highest. Almost twice what my current company
wants - and nothing spectacular for extra's...

No idea why. We went over all of the items.

I know some agreement came down with Landstar/OOIDA but I dont recall for SURE if it addressed the insurance issue.
You need to ask them - they will send you an email with all the companies/brokers that won't accept their insurance.

I pull for Landstar rather often...so at the time, OOIDA wasn't an option for me.
I always see good to great rates with Landstar, so I never quite understand what these other guys are getting.

Just to get a feel for what's out there, I called Landstar on one load and it was so low that I felt discouraged about the whole deal. I called on another load and it was even higher than what I had expected. Without actually having my own authority, Landstar is one of the few companies that will allow me access to their load board, so for now all I can do is to use them as part of my research.

Roger that....but ironically 2 of the best loads I got came from Landstar.
I am NOT pushing them by any means cause I have been called with pathetic loads too.

    (Rant coming)

"We are in a bad spot...need to get 30k of material up to the twin cities. Pickup anytime tonight and deliver by 0800"

Ok...its about 6hrs - not bad. Then came the price....

    $1.59/mi

I laughed out loud. I asked him if he was desperate, the rate needed to reflect that. I'm not talking $5/mi but seriously...
He told me "I got all I can into it and we are barely breaking even" - Yea ok. Been there heard that before.
I told him for that price, HE can haul it. And then I gave him dialtone.
