I got a new entrant quote from progressive 3 weeks ago but it was through an underwriter. Maybe you can't go straight through progressive.

    HopeOverMope Thanks this.

I found going thru Progressive direct to be much cheaper than going thru an agent.

    TmGM and RStewart Thank this.

They seem to go back and forth on accepting new entrants. My MC# goes back to 94 so I don't have that issue.

    RStewart Thanks this.

I was wondering about that. When the agent came back with my quote my first thought is what do I need you for if you're going through progressive.

The best brokers don't exist. But any major broker name should be better than the landstar agents I have experienced so far. But there are many LS agents out there... so I yet to be surprised one day, maybe, maybe....
Let's see...CH Robinson, Convoy, Coyote, EPES logistics, TQL, JB Hunt (after 6 months) ...I used them to get my feet wet when starting up.
Whether they accept OOIDA insurance, I don't know..in some set ups, it says clearly, that at least A- rating insurance is required.

I have pulled a few landstar loads that paid above average and a couple that even paid great. But I have pulled a lot that were just mediocre. It's up to you to decide the diffrence.

Same with TQL. Most just mediocre but 2 of my top 10 this year were TQL loads.

You don't want Nucor unless its just a backhaul source-
Wait till you find out their MINIMUM insurance requirements to Haul $2.00 per mile freight on 200 mile trips

Delt with that one last week. I almost fell out laughing by the time the call was over!

CDL since 1993 but just getting own authority. I was quoted through progressive at 15900.00 year. I have no tickets or accidents in the past three years with excellent credit. OOIDA quoted me 8300.00 yr. They sent me the list of brokers and although it is somewhat concerning to me that they don't do business with those 25 brokers, I think I will be moving forward with OOIDA. I haven't had a quote for less than 14k yet except for OOIDA.

    HopeOverMope and DSK333 Thank this.
