I was just quoted 43000 from progressive. The lady said because iit would be new authority and income tax time with everyone buying cars and trucks is their way of trimming applications

Everything still going well with this? I'm seriously considering OOIDA insurance but scared that I'll be getting turned down on loads having their insurance.

    csmith1281 Thanks this.

They have a list of those that will not accept it and frankly I didn't see a single one that mattered.

Yup. Landstar is on the list and about 15 others, but none that we’ve even come across to haul for really. It would be nice to haul the occasional load for LS but we were leased there 5 years, so hey, oh well. We have OOIDA insurance. Hasn’t been an issue really. Surprised TQLLLL wasn’t on their list!!

Things appear to have gone up quite a bit since this thread started. 2 months ago, OOIDA told me they wouldn't write a policy on me because of my new authority. Progressive won't write on new authority in California where I am, so I'm checking out a few other companies. Right now it's looking like I'll be paying close to $28k a year for $150k load insurance, and full coverage on a new truck and trailer.

Unless you know your hauling 150k worth of cargo, 100k will do. Might lower your cost a bit. We started with 150k cargo and bumped it down to a 100k. At least in flatbed, it seems to go 100k cargo or straight up to 250,000k+ needed for certain loads like keen and glitner for new cat equipment and etc

My problem is that I need at least $150k and sometimes as much as $500k. I expect to be shopping around for a while to find it.
