The O/O section really is different, almost like a different site especially where someone needs help on a mechanical issue. Less ego and testosterone busting.

Well. Not to merge threads, but it looks like to me that both the OP and some of the posters who followed were in the wrong about how they handled it.

Devil, you're not wrong but... In this instance, most were saying, "You pulled it once. Finish the job."

Thats the wrong attitude to take, I'm sure you know that. I would've asked why he even moved it from the yard...

Doesnt matter. You're going to meet all kinds. I'm not offering excuses, but all the same some of us did try.

Also, just my two cents... O/o's have been pretty awesome on the road, I haven't met one in person I haven't enjoyed having a conversation with and it's been somewhat helpful. (In person now. Not over cb.). Company drivers that stay in their cabs though... I haven't met a good one yet. At all.

O/o will always be difference. I'm a company driver, so I'm on the outside looking in. O/o's see other drivers as friends and being in the same boat. Company drivers see other drivers as competition. That's my two cents and I could be wrong. ...if you're curious, unless I'm dog tired you'll usually find me inside shmoozing with other drivers. I'm stuck in a cab most of my day. Why wouldn't I get out and talk if I can?

 

I would have called the DOT and asked them if they want to inspect me where I sit.

After reviewing your 8 posts at the present moment, I think maybe you should review and adjust your negativity. Your issue with the insurance claim has been pointed out with a few members in this thread. It appears, you did not have enough coverage or over inflated estimates. You don't have to accept the offer from the adjuster but coming on this forum and berate the site, will not fly with me !!!!!!!!!

 

It took you 2-3 posts before you even came close to clarifying your situation. You really expect people to help with 1/2 the information? I know many O/O's that have used the same OOIDA insurance, and I never heard anything like this scenario about them. A $7000.00 estimate being knocked down the $700.00 by a OOIDA adjuster..........sounds fishy. Are you sure the repair guy who gave you the estimate wasn't seeing "pink elephants"?

 

Sorry to hear about your mess. Head down, ears open, brain in high gear......you will get through this, but it may leave a bad tasted in your mouth. Don't forget to learn from what went wrong and what went right. Most important......make changes to reflect what you have learned.

I always check out a dozen or so insurance companies when I get quotes every couple of years. OOIDA is more expensive than most so I haven't looked into them further. Its just common sense that if they were really trying to give you a break because you were in OOIDA they should be a bit cheaper. I have also seen several complaints over the years on how they conduct business. Yes every business is out to make money, but if you are dealing with an ethical company that has a little integrity you are always better off.

Make them show YOU the pictures indicating this damage was done before the accident. They can spend there dime on this. Give them your routes previous to the accident. There are so many DOT, City, and even photos being recorded by other truckers I am sure something will turn up.

I usually seek advice from someone familiar with dealing in matters like this.....matters I am not an expert at. Ironically one of my sources is OOIDA. Even though I haven't used their insurance, their advice has gotten me out of some pretty hopeless situations. The people they hire are usually active or retired truckers and I can say that like any place there are good and bad. Find the good and make sure you talk to them when you call. I am sure they will even talk to you about this.....but maybe don't mention the insurance company's name to eliminate and prejudice they may have.

I have used several insurance companies over the years. I have a good record and price is generally what makes me move to another, though bad service lead to my last move. Lots of good ones out there with integrity. It always helps if you build a good relationship with them. An agent still has a little pull over the underwriter and I have seen this make some issues go away real quick.
