The bridge not being attached is all about expansion and contraction due to temperature. Everything changes size and if they were solidly connected they would buckle pretty quick. Luckily we have this thing called gravity that keeps things in place.

And whoever asked about bridges in earthquakes, after the 880 collapse, most in earthquake zones have been refitted with retention cables that allow expansion but would prevent collapse. They're like trailer safety chains for bridge beams, and are easily visible in many cases.No Exit Thanks this. -
Driver with an oversized hit a bridge on NB I-25 here in Colorado, Lincoln Ave. bridge. Did enough damage they had to go in, cut out and place one of the concrete I-beams, work should be done in a few weeks, that's a bill I never would never want to see

One of our drivers poached by competition,,,they can have him as soon as the Rotator gets him off the bridge clearly marked 5mph…He was doing warp speed so we have issues and only access to island to the natives are restless..this is how pathetic the driver pool has become,,,,
