yeah, i know (yanking the chain...) i was merely responding to "Tazz" the possibility exists for a false positive. now something else i found out was, there is NO proof that second hand smoke from someone close to you smoking a joint will make you test positive. so anyone showing "positive" for smoking weed cannot use the 'second hand smoke" story..........
but for some one like Tazz to say its NOT possible, is ignorant, as i have given as much proof as possible to prove other wise. also, we DO NOT know the eating habits of others now do we.........?? how are we to actually know if a person eats one "poppy seed coated" food or several foods in a day........???
in the end, it is/was "plausible"............
Oops!! OVI!

Kinda hard to feel a tug when your further proof is a elevision show, and yet another site for drug user's.
I quite clearly said scientific research. Not some clip from tv. Someone that has actually done the research. Not some group looking to make drug addicts feel they have a leg to stand on. Someone that actually does the testing like http://www.aegislabs.com/. Who by the way said yes it was quite possible. If the subject ate a half a lb of seeds( appx 1 1/2 cups) and were tested within twelve hours you could show low levels of opiate. Enough to request a second sampling. I know of no one that eats 1 1/2 cups of poppy seeds in any twelve hour period. Anyone that does is probably also smoking banana peels to get high.
Make no mistake I care not what you put into your body. But I do care if you are on the road with it in your body. And all the fanciful excuse's of cough syrup, poppy seed, second hand pot smoke(I do not have problems of standing in that close of proximity to a drug addict. If you do maybe you should examine your company.) are pitiful excuse's by those unwilling to face the consequences of their actions.Last edited by a moderator: Oct 8, 2010

If the OP thinks some of the posters here are #-hles ... you really don't want to meet any prosecutors ... or trial attorneys ... against you in court.
-
i certainly do hope you are NOT thinking i do this crap.......i was responding to questions from others. you would be better "served" to NOT assume things. and why are you so adamantly discounting any thing i provide as an explanation, do you have something to hide from YOUR past..........??
you seem to "think" or assume that the links i provide are "pro" drug use.........why don't YOU provide links that mine are wrong.........?????
seems to me, your arse does your talking for you.......... -
To all of us who are talking shi+.....We can because we are bright enough to not get a OVI!
You were not!
I'm not perfect but I have never gotten an OVI, So I'm a little closer to perfect than YOU....It probably will cost you your job, As it should.
@ssholes?
You're the one lookin' like one of those because YOU are the one that was drinkin' and drivin' while us @ssholes were busy doin'it right!
I personally think it fair that you should not be able to drive a truck if you've been convicted of DUI even once...If you don't agree, So what?
You're the one that got caught OVI, Not me!
Im answering your question, If you don't like the answer....Tough!
"If all you can do is hate" Are you serious? You did a very stupid thing and you apparently came to this board to look for sympathy...You're not getting it and you don't deserve it!
Man up, Learn your lesson and move on!RenegadeTrucker, Markk9, Injun and 3 others Thank this. -
I feel a comment in here but blackw900 said it just fine...however:
My CDL is one of my most prized possessions. I will never do anything to compromise that. Drinking and driving is a conscious choice that was made and now you live with the end result. Many of us love drinking (I sure do) but I drink at home and only home and never when I have to go somewhere later on.
Most of my buddies who drive, dont even have a beer anymore when out for a fish fry. They are that serious about this.
Might be time for another career that you need to look into...Markk9 Thanks this. -
On the poppy seed issue.
In the Myth Busters clip a commercially available immunoassay test designed to detect the presence of codeine and/or morphine (opiate metabolites) at levels as low as 300 ng/ml was used. In the year 2000 49CFR Part 40 was revised to change the cutoff level for codeine and morphine from 300 ng/ml to 2000 ng/ml.
Therefore, there probably were false positive tests caused by consuming relatively large quantities of poppy seed foods prior to 2000 (an issue that had to be sorted out by the Medical Review Officer). At the current cutoff level (49CFR 40.87) it is a virtual impossibility.Injun Thanks this. -
My sister is a lab tech in 2 hospitals. Her and some co-workers tried the poppy seed test and it will show up on a blood test. One of them ate a couple poppy seed muffins and tested their blood though the night (bored on a slow night).

this is from an organization as an instructor i am a member of. read what they say........the limits have been LOWERED. now i should point out, they say heroin, which is an opiate which is what a poppy seed is........
http://www.cvta.org/member-news/ass...ve-more-drug-using-drivers-from-the-road.html
now, this is something i posted here (on another board) from the LandLine magazine, where it was said the testing limits were lowered.

hey, believe what ever you want, but IF the possibility exists..........why do some of you deny it does..........are ya'll guilty of something........??
oh and heres' one more

Effective October 2010 cut-off levels were lowered for amphetamines and cocaine. We were discussing poppy seeds/opiates.
