OOS Waiting to happen

That's scary....

 

This guy needs to be pulled off the truck and his butt tossed in jail. I'm surprised that the junk on the deck has stayed on longer than a mile or so.

 

See it everyday... Tires, boards, chains, chocks.. a lot of flatbedders do this.. Is it safe no...only takes a second to strap this stuff down and put stuff where it goes.. but this is what overly restrictive laws such has 11/14 hos breed.. Guys cut corners and cost our reputation with the public at the least and lives at the extremes... When that tire boucnes through some soccer moms windshield at 500 rpms...

Let me be crystal clear.. I am not saying it is ok.. load securement should be job 1 as a professional in this industry... I hope everyone takes it as seriously as they do safety..as it ties hand in hand with it..as far as the first photo maybe he did what he had to do to limp to the truck stop I don't know.. I highly doubt it.. but I know I have had to do stuff like this to get to a parts house to get parts.. I won't judge on this... but the stuff not being strapped down.. is unforgivable..

 

Have you ever heard of a good paying load of junk cars? Not surprising .....

 

So many remarks to be made, I don't know where to start.

 

Trying to think of the best possible explanation. so far I got, the fence post was laying in the road. flew up and busted off his fender, got tangled in the driveshaft and destroyed a some tires or wheels. the driveshaft blew through the decking and took out his pogo stick.

He got roadside repair of the driveshaft and came up with a couple extra wheels, kept the fencepost for evidence, and limped in to the truckstop where he is awaiting further repair after which he will surely clear his deck, get his airlines fixed up and a fender put on ??

Not tractor drive shaft, it has a slip yoke to go into the rear of a puck up / car trans. 16" dual wheel pick up tires, rims. The air lines do not look like they are close to dropping 8" down into the frame to rub on the drive shaft. The tires will hold the shaft and wood against the chains. Now I do think this is a bad idea. First not worried about where they might end up ( that is bad by itself) I am worried I would loose my chains and have to replace them. The winch bar is not free. That tire and wheel combo is easily worth $100 each. It has to be someone elses truck and equipment. Would you guys that have to supply your own equipment ever walk away from your truck with all that $$ sitting in the open ready to grab. The real problem is as you have already stated, when one piece comes off, its open season on all those bad truckers on the road. I do do this type of thing around here, I mean wile on the roads around my farm, but not 20 miles away.
