Actually at that rate, you will be part of the average in making a net of 60,000$ a year. Which is what the average OO apparently took home. Though I really wouldn't want to run that many miles on such little rate.

Wow OO's only making $60,000. per year? No way would I own a truck and make less then a company driver. Plus have all the head aches.. But then again its your truck. And if like most will do stuff to the truck for a tax break that could go into your pocket. But I agree with add to the truck any time you can.
-
Not many company drivers making 60K, unless they've been there forever, or are specialized. That said, I think for all the risk OO's should be making 75K at least.

Man, what a bunch of crap.......
Here's a straightforward answer to the straightforward question........"what are the operating costs per mile?"
Gas.....between 25 and 30 cpm
maintenance.......around a dime
taxes......about the same.
so, big picture is roughly .50 per mile (actually a bit less)
why do all you guys have to be such jerks all the time? If you don't know the answer, just don't respond. It ain't that hard.Aamcotrans, Bosscity318 and TallJoe Thank this. -
Insurance plates payments DRIVER PAY
Are you doing 25k miles? 75k? 120k?
Lots of variables -
All right. There we go:
My YTD: all of it is based on all empty and loaded miles. I don't differentiate as I I find it useless.
avg p/mile: $ 1.34 (after they take their 10-15%)
fuel cost/mile $ 0.32( I run 65-70)
mtnc/mile $ 0.20 : paid off truck 2009 Cummins ISX +trailer
other/mile $ 0.09 (plates, insurance, parking, trailer lease)
total cost/mile $ 0.62
Profit/mile $ 0.72
YTD Miles:

see.....how hard was that?
-
A ha, you just want there were 60's and we all hug each other! Fine by me!

He's lying low
-
That's a little low.
*Maintenance is higher for me, especially with the trailer. I budget 18 cpm.
* insurance. As much as a dime.
* overhead is at least a nickel. Memberships, drug consortium, phone, internet, accountant, lawyer, banking fees, the odd ticket or two, custom's brokers, the list goes on and on. If you deal with lumpers, tolls, add those too.
* DEPRECIATION. Yeah, it's a real cost. Mine's around 13 cpm, with the trailer.
I really don't trust any "cost per mile" number under $0.80 per mile with today's fuel prices, and I know there are more than a few trucks at well over $1.00 per mile.TallJoe, tnpete and Bigdaddy00 Thank this.
