Thanks for the link but they write that stuff weird. So if I read it right is it saying "my company operated by their company"? Or is that backwards? And sweet, glad I don't need to clutter it up with the address and everything.

In regard to the city, state issue, read number 8 at http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/truck/vehicle/marking.htm. It is not required but also not prohibited.

You have that correct but most people to not place both names at the same spot on the truck so it isn’t all one sentence. I usually see people put their own company on the door and then put the operating carrier behind the door with the phrase “operated by” preceding it.

Some people put their VIN on the side (or last 8 digits of it) as well as Colorado used to pull you in if it was not displayed. I’m not sure if they are still doing that or not.

In MI I see a lot of trucks with "leased to" on them meaning if you wanted to have nedrudt trucking on your door you would do so with your address and whatever you want but NO dot number. On the bunk you would have "leased to abc trucking " and their DOT#. I've never been hassled about not having a full address on the truck.

You need company name. Dot #. Don't need city or state and must be readable from 50ft away in a contrasting color

Yeah........ALL of us need to KNOW the rules we are playing by. The "other side" doesn't know them ALL......and are frequently wrong. You can disagree with a LEO politely and stand your ground. HOWEVER.......there are some subtle differences in state law with the states that still require INTRAstate authority; only applicable if actually ENGAGED in intrastate work.

A great man said that all is required for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing. We MUST stop giving in to every little bite being taken out of us!!

    i am typically extremely argumentative

lately i have learned to respond as follows

"officer, i THOUGHT, the regs say......"

and that typically shuts them up
