I just changed my hometime to the middle of next week. Werner's equipment is ####. Only thing i forgot to do was tell them i had a doctors appointment and had to be home no exceptions lol
I'm thinking about callin the michigan dot and telling them that i am an independant journalist on the trucking industry and have heard about this and will be writing an article about the safety blitz and would be interested in either hangin out at the chicken coop or doing a ride along with a "motor carrier enforcement officer".....this might turn out to be extremely interested if they bite...hahahahh.
Edit: Right after i post this, i hear someone being obnoxious and repeatedly honking a city horn. I climb up front and honk back and realize its my horn honking itself. Do you see any problem with this? That's why i say werner's equipment sucks..![]()

Sorry People, I'm just not intimidated by authority. I know my equipment and I know the laws. I have no problem with getting inspected. I just can't imagine staying home because I might meet an A-hole inspector out there. I meet life's challenges head on and I don't hide from anyone. Again, that's just me. You do what works for you. No offense to anyone.

I think most can appreciate that point of view A.M., but there are too many interpretations of the law. So like was posted earlier, you may pass one & then 80 miles up the road not pass that one based upon a different interpretation.
With that said, I have to run next week. -
If it takes some trucks off the road that have no business sharing it with myself and my family I'm all for it.
The BS we may have to go thru is no different then any other time we roll thru the scales and give up our rights.. -

Sounds like everyone drives junk equipment, they know they drive junk equipment, they know they can't pass an inspection (paper or otherwise) and will just wimp out by staying home for 72 hours. It's a sad situation. ---- I don't see it like that at all, you must know after all i see that you have been driving for 32 years so, you must have run into sum scales where they can be fair and seen the ones where you probably not get out without a ticket. These fools have a free ride to do what they want to do and i just feel that some of the scales going up the Coast will be looking for a lot of free cash on those days. You know these guys can find something wrong with any truck or trailer and some of us just don't feel like giving our money away. I am sure my stuff would pass and i know my logs will. Maybe we just are not mr. super trucker.

Well, I would suggest that if you get written up for a violation, tell the officer politely you want to see the violation and verify. For instance, if it's an air leak, show me, bald tire, show me, cracked frame or spring, show me, oil leak, show me etc. You don't have to be pushed around by anyone. As I said, know your equipment, know the law, be polite, but stand firm if you are right. Work with the inspector, not against him.
old-six-pack Thanks this. -
