Late reply to the earlier tire size/ratio discussion; years ago, working for a large private transportation co., I learned alot about tires caring for a fleet of 83 trailers, (63 tanks, the rest a mix of end dumps, flats, roll offs, and dry box vans). Tire wear was our biggest expense, so I focused mostly in that area, learning what I could from tire reps, among other sources. One of the more surprising things I learned was the difference in resistance between the 22.5 and 24.5 tires. The amount of resistance to overcome when taking off was substantial, and rolling resistance was also surprising. Naturally, a "lo pro" 22.5 was the champion, having the least amount. A Brigestone tire rep that serviced our area was one of my reliable sources, and I remember him making a good comparision during a discussion. Couple of things that stood out:
    (1) Smaller tires = less resistance
    (2) Due to tire composition, (of premium tires) there is very little treadwear difference between a 22.5 and 24.5 of the same make, model, etc. The small gain of extra treadlife is offset by the purchase price of a larger tire.

This learning experience was approx. eight years ago, and I cannot remember the % numbers of the comparisions, but it was an eyeopener.
