I was in a rollover accident a little over a week ago, the load shifted when I was getting off an exit & making a left turn after the red light turned green.
Thankfully no one was hurt, I only got a small cut & some bruises.
I’m just worried because I only started driving last June & it feels like my driving career is already over, my company put me Out Of Service while they review the accident but they’ve haven’t said anything since. I can’t imagine any other company would take me on with an accident on my record so soon.
I’m not really sure what to do now so I figured I’d ask anyone here for advice.
Thanks in advance. Be safe!
Options after a rollover accident because of load shift?

After the red light turned green...?
So as you exited you were facing a red light but didn't slow down enough to stop, much less make the left turn safely.
I would love to see that dash cam footage.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
What?
I was stopped at a red light & once it turned green I accelerated to make a left turn.
Unfortunately my company doesn’t have any dash cams, but the officer told me my story, the witnesses, & traffic cameras all checked out so I didn’t get a ticket.viper822004 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
You were still hitting it hard enough to shift the load enough to cause you to roll over?
What story did the officer tell you?
Maybe you should tell a more precise account of what happened.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Loads don’t shift. You make a maneuver too quickly, the truck tips over, then the load shifts. Or it wasn’t secured properly.
Even if you have a questionable load, you drive it accordingly.
For loads that I didn’t load, I always had a look at it before pulling away so I knew what I was dealing with.
If everything was low to the floor, I didn’t have to worry about it too much. If it was all stacked up to maximum height, then I took it easy on cornering.
I wouldn’t say your career was over, even after a major accident involving injuries you can get back on the road in 12 months.Rideandrepair, misfitmanny and Concorde Thank this. -
This smells like another troll
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Did you have a beverage load?
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
It was definitely not secured/loaded properly, not secured at all, & it was fully loaded front to back, top to bottom, with the heaviest pallets stacked on top. So yeah maybe it was my fault for being negligent & believing when my bill said it only weighed around 26k but I wasn’t being reckless when I made that turn.
Regardless, I’m not denying that it happened or trying to say that I’m absolved of any responsibility. The only point of the post is to see what I can do moving forward.bryan21384, uncleal13, rockeee and 1 other person Thank this. -
Even if so, those load might shift to the rear and fall over in the back, but not to the side that much.
Certainly not enough to cause a roll over.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
No sir, I work for central transport so it’s usually a variety of items, when unloading this one after the accident I believe it was a lot of heavy pallets for Lowe’s or home depot I think.Rideandrepair and Chinatown Thank this.
