Oops guess I was three weeks late lol

Yeah something like sheetz or walmart was what I was looking at for down the road after I get a few years under my belt, or hopefully a union ltl job whenever one pops up nearby. I spent the last 10 years on the receiving dock in a walmart DC so hoping that experience will give me a better shot at an ltl job.
My main problem is I just need to get something going soon to hold me over until what i'm looking for comes along, i'm just trying to do my research instead of jumping into something out of desperation and regretting it.Blackshack46 Thanks this. -
You could give Schneider a try. If I remember correctly they have the dedicated account for the Walmart D.C. In Bedford. Living where you do you could probably be home fairly often with not a bad commute up 99. Also check out ward trucking in Altoona, from what I understand you can make good money if you can play by company rules

I checked into that walmart account awhile back and nothing about it appealed to me. My dad warned me about it when i first mentioned it (hes been a walmart driver at the bedford dc about 20 years) and said to steer clear. I called anyway and they said it was something like 1200-1500 miles a week average, 2 days off during the week and you're driving every night delivering to mainly baltimore and dc, not exactly two places I want to be in and out of constantly at night.
Ward is a really good gig, I've already applied there but everything they have open right now is a day or two a week part time stuff. -
Whatever you decide, I'd like to say congratulations & good luck to you. I try to stay far away from the Northeast, so I can't add to the great advice you're getting.

New Penn is looking for drivers in Altoona. They're part of YRC and they hire new students. LTL work and home every night. I think there's a Fed Ex Freight around there too. You may be able to move up from the docks to a driving position through their dock to driver training program.
Good luck. -
Veriha hires outta central pa and claims you get home every weekend. Although they may ask you to sign a yr contract.
I almost went with them but I decided I didn't need to be home that much. -
They're trash anyway. Heard nothing but bad about them, all your typical scum trucking company habits. I'm sure their fisher price single drive axle trucks are a real peach in the NE winters too

I sent you a PM.
